                          The Quran

The holy book of the Muslims is called the Quran. The Quran is the Last Testament from  the One God, Allah, to mankind. The Quran was revealed to Muhammad (PBUH) by Allah through the angel Gabriel. When read in it's original language, Arabic, the Quran offers an unmatched and clear message from God. The Quran was sent as a guidance and good news to those who believe in the One God and as a warning to those who turn away from His Signs.

The Quran is made up of 114 chapters(surahs) and has stories of prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, and more.

The Quran preaches justice and fairness to all men, kindness to orphans, and responsibility for ones actions, and promotes forgiveness. It forbids unjustified killing except for defense of one's land, home, or to end oppression in the land.

               THE QURAN AND WAR

The Quran was the first document to make laws for war.  In Surah 2 verse 190 of the Quran it says, "Fight against those who fight against you in the way of Allah, but do not transgress, for Allah does not love transgressors."

        THE QURAN AND WOMEN

The Quran was the first document to give women rights. Right such as rights of inheritance,  rights to be a witness in a court, are given to a woman in the Quran. Today, when we see women being subjugated in some Muslim countries, truly that is not Islam.
